As some of you probably know the area I'm living in, is currently the subject of massive flooding. Flooding which is being termed historic and which could surpass or reach flooding as seen in the last 500 years.
That is big. Really big. A local news paper is the best resource for area images and latest news.
Right now I'm so very, very happy that hubby and I decided to stay in Marion when we were looking at houses. I don't think I could have dealt with having to sandbag and a potential evacuation at the same time.
So we were supposed to have several watches and warnings throughout the night. I do not think we had any thunder, but did get a bit of rain and from the look of the side yard a lot of wind too.
But that was not what made the night interesting. It was one set of neighbors across the street and hubby was thisclose to call the cops on them too. A lot of yelling and screaming, someone backing out of the driveway and hitting another car (belonging to that house) setting off the car alarm and more yelling and screaming.
As ready as I am for spring like weather, I am not ready for the storms and really bad weather like the stuff potentially moving into the area tonight. *ugh*
Thanks to those of you who said your prayers. Right now things are calm though I do remain guarded to a certain degree.
I am seriously starting to wonder if we ever are going to see this thing called spring. We were supposed to get a bit of rain, but to me it looks a lot more like snow coming down and it's sticking in places too.
Still a bit heavy at heart about some stuff going on, but in time it will all sort itself out one way or another.
I absolutely love the weather at this time of the year. Yesterday and the day before it was rain and thunder, this morning it is snowing (That is not a joke). Don't know how I'm going to break that news to hubby (unless it's still snowing when he wakes up) without sounding like a real bad "April Fools" joke.
The kitties were real happy when they saw hubby walk in the door last night, though a certain black and tan one has been playing the game of "let's punish that human" for leaving her. She also did a lot of squeak and run at me last night too. Came into the craft room, squeaked at me and ran as soon as I turned to look. Silly little thing :)
So I might or might not be home alone for the next couple of days. Something came up in the family and hubby is considering hitting the road, but he haven't made up his mind yet (At least not that I am aware of at the time of posting).
The snow we got the other day turned out to be bit more than expected, but it has already disappeared again. It was so weird for a while. I went to take my usual nap and all we were getting were a mix of mostly rain and a little bit of snow. When I woke up it was big fat flakes and it actually covered the ground. Needless to say I was enjoying it while everything was looking pretty, but as much as I love snow I think I am ready for spring. I love the time of year when I can start keeping the windows open for longer and longer periods of time without feeling like the house turns into a freezer.
The kitties have been enjoying the open windows too and several times we've been subjected to their lots and lots of fresh air antics.
I thought I had just posted, but as it turns out it has been 12 days already. I guess time do fly when you're having fun.
We've still got grass and a lot more of it too. There's still a few minor piles of that white stuff hanging around though not in our yard. Hubby is very happy about that.
I spoke too soon. Between starting this post last night and waking up this morning we've got snow on the ground. Not inches and inches of it, but enough that we cannot currently see as much grass as we could yesterday. My bet is that it will not last long.
My craft table is a mess right now. Piles of stamp sets, creative magazines, things to alter, finished projects and other misc stuff sitting around while I try to figure out what to do with them. And I am having what seems like a blue million ideas brewing. I don't know how many of them I will actually act on, but it is nice at least having the option of whether or not I want to do something instead of spending time trying to come up with ideas just to justify the amount of craft supplies I have managed to collect. Besides I am trying to do a bit of stash busting. There's so much paper, card stock, ribbon etc and it won't do any good if I don't use at least some of it :)
I have been posting some of my projects on Flickr. One of these days I might actually get around to set up blog posting from there, so I won't have to worry about uploading there and uploading and posting here. Too much work when all I want to do it play and have fun.
And hubby rejoiced greatly :)
Yes, we still have that white stuff on the ground though it is not as pretty as when freshly fallen. Unfortunately this also means that we're beginning to see just how much cleanup we have to do, once it's all gone.
I am so looking forward to that task.
I did get my Klic-N-Kut (KnK) two weeks ago and I've had an absolute blast playing and getting comfortable with it. This machine is fast. With the wishblade I could get up, go for a drink or take a potty break while it was cutting. Depending on what I'm cutting with the KnK, there is barely time to get out of my chair before it's done cutting.
We did have a bit of "fun" making room for the KnK in the craft room. Initially hubby thought I'd have to move into what is currently the tv room, but with a bit of very creative pushing things around we managed to find the needed space in the craft room. And it actually looks bigger too. The only down side is, that there is no way I'll be able to fit anything else in here. I have def maxed out the space I have.
- New Monitor - For a while the desktop monitor has been making funny noises when it has either been turned on for the day or has come back from the screen saver. Yesterday the brightness started to go and the noises became permanent to the point where I had to turn it off.
- Grocery Shopping - This one speaks for itself, though we could wait until tomorrow if it wasn't because we supposedly have a snow and/or ice storm coming into the area.
- GNC - Vitamins. Gotta have those vitamins.
- Out for dinner - Hubby suggested doing this for valentines. :)
Probably more to follow
I know I thought it was cold when I wrote about the weather the last time, but those temperatures is a heat wave compared to what I woke up to this morning. -20 with a wind chill of -37. It makes me wonder just how low it got over night and extremely happy that I do not have kids I need to get off to school or that I need to get out of the house today. Even a certain black and tan member of the house hold have taken to snooze in her carrier because it is placed in front of a heat vent and it's nice a cozy in there. But she still don't like the carrier and misses no chance to tell us about it.
